Cost per Square Foot Calculator
Divide a total cost by an area to get the price per square foot, with the price per square meter alongside — for comparing quotes, materials, or rent.
Price per square foot turns a lump-sum cost into a rate you can compare. Divide the total cost by the area it covers and you get dollars per square foot. A `$1,000` job over `500` square feet works out to `$2.00` per square foot. That single number lets you line up quotes of different sizes, judge whether a flooring price is fair, or compare the cost of two houses that are not the same size.
The calculator keeps the area in exact terms and also reports dollars per square meter, since materials and listings sometimes quote metric. One square meter is about `10.76` square feet, so a `$2.00` per square foot rate is about `$21.53` per square meter. Flip the toggle to enter the area in square meters instead. The rate scales cleanly: whether you are pricing tile, concrete, carpet, or rent, the method is the same total-over-area division.
= 1000 / 500 = $2.00 per sq ft
= $21.53 per sq m
