The package with the lower sticker price is not always the better deal — what matters is the price per unit. This calculator divides each package's price by its quantity to get a common per-unit figure, then flags the cheapest. Enter a few options in the same unit — ounces, pounds, square feet, linear feet, whatever fits — and it does the division and the comparison for you.

Say a 10 oz bottle costs $5.00 and a 32 oz bottle costs $12.00. The small one is 5.00 ÷ 10 = $0.500 per ounce; the large one is 12.00 ÷ 32 = $0.375 per ounce. The bigger bottle wins, and by a clear margin. The key rule is to keep every row in the same unit so the per-unit numbers are truly comparable — if one item is priced by the pound and another by the ounce, convert them to a single unit first. Add up to four options and the lowest per-unit price is marked as the best value.
