Concrete Cost Calculator
Compare the cost of a pour by ready-mix truck versus bags — enter your dimensions and prices and see which is cheaper and by how much.
bags = 74 × $7 = $481
There are two ways to buy concrete, and the cheaper one flips depending on how much you need. Ready-mix is sold by the cubic yard, delivered by truck, and usually carries a delivery or short-load fee for small orders. Bagged mix is sold by the bag and mixed on site — no fee, but the per-yard cost is much higher and the labor is real.
This calculator sizes your pour from its dimensions, adds a waste allowance, and then prices it both ways. The ready-mix side multiplies the cubic yards you order by your local delivered price and adds any fees. The bag side counts how many bags of your chosen size you need — rounded up, since you buy whole bags — and multiplies by the price per bag. It then tells you which is cheaper and by how much.
Prices vary a lot by region and by the day, so the defaults are only a starting point. Enter a real quote for ready-mix and a real shelf price for bags to get a number you can trust. As a rule of thumb, small jobs favor bags and anything past roughly a cubic and a half favors the truck.
ready-mix = 1.63 cu yd × $175 + $60 delivery = $345
bags = 74 × 80 lb @ $6.50 = $481
cheaper = ready-mix, saving about $136
